i shuddered at the light board rebooting. *gah* it's so bleedin' unpredictable at times.

i'm glad that fall didn't kill you--at least it was in a show where it might look intentional? ...?

:)

(and i would rather have sour apple audience members leave during intermission then have their black, humorless hole sucking up the laughter of everyone else.)

I've only ever read "Cloud Nine" and portions of "Top Girls" so not really much of a Churchill connoisseur. Might have to check that out this weekend. when it comes to pieces that are so much about the words themselves I think I almost prefer to read them. Or at least to read them before seeing them performed. Seeing something extremely well written performed live for the first time I always feel a little rushed; like I'm trying to remember all the words and I can't because more keeps getting said!

Caryl Churchill's FAR AWAY has been one of my favorites. Consider a reading of THAT this summer. It's short enough not to tax anybody's attention span for spoken word and the language is sheer poetry. It's kind of a dark drama, but the language is playful and surreal. So much of that play is in the language. It's ideal for a reading.
